Video: Christian Atsu’s family sings praises to God after footballer’s rescue

  The family house of  Christian Atsu  was overtaken by joy following news that the footballer has been pulled out of a rubble caused by the earthquake in Turkey. On Monday, it emerged that the 31-year-old winger had been trapped in the rubble after a devastating earthquake hit the country. Atsu, who currently plays for Turkish side Hatayspor, had been trapped under the rubble together with the club’s sporting director Taner Savut. However, after hours of searching for the duo, it was confirmed on Tuesday morning that the Ghanaian has finally been found alive and is receiving treatment at a hospital. In a video shared on YouTube, the Peace FM head of sports spoke to Atsu's senior brother and other members of his family, who were captured singing praises to God for rescuing their kin.   Manchester City have been charged by the Premier League for breaching financial rules more than 100 times in the space of nine seasons. The charges against the reigning champions relate to financial information regarding revenue, details of manager and player remuneration, UEFA regulations, profitability and sustainability and co-operation with Premier League investigations.  A statement from the league said alleged breaches were committed from September 2009 to to the 2017-18 season and will now be referred to an independent commission. City are also facing charges for failing to cooperate with the investigation, which began in December 2018.  It adds that the club is alleged to have breached league rules requiring provision 'in utmost good faith' of 'accurate financial information that gives a true and fair view of the club's financial position'.   Some of Ghana’s celebrated wealthy businessmen like Sam Jonah, Ibrahim Mahama and Osei Kwame Despite did not make it onto Forbes’ list of richest people in Africa for 2023 released recently. The list of the 18 richest people in Africa were all classified as “billionaires” by Forbes Magazine. All the billionaires came from only seven of the 54 African countries. Nigeria’s Aliko Dangote topped the list with a fortune of $13.5 billion. The Nigerian industrialist still topped the list despite losing $400 million in the year under review. The 2023 Forbes list of Africa’s super-rich makes Dangote the richest person on the continent twelve times in a row. Following closely is South Africa’s luxury goods mogul Johann Rupert. He placed second with a net worth of $10.7 billion. He is also reported to have lost $300 million in the year under review. Woman dies after suffering multiple stabs from 21-year-old man

  A woman believed to be in her early 60s has been stabbed to death at Sepe- Buokrom in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti region. Body of the woman was reportedly hid in her own bathroom after she was killed by the suspect. The deceased, Rose Gyaah, was allegedly stabbed eight times with a knife Monday, February 6, 2023. The suspect, Koo Baafi, 21, according to eye witnesse threatened to kill anyone who will try to arrest him with a gun after committing the heinous act. He was later arrested by some youth in the area and handed over to the police at Airport. Ejuraman Anglican SHS disaster: 27 out of 49 students discharged from hospital

  Twenty-seven of the forty-nine students of Ejuraman Anglican SHS have been discharged from the Ejura Government Hospital after their school’s dining hall collapsed on them. The structure caved in after a downpour in the area. Our News team in Kumasi checks reveal all but one of the students are in stable condition. The only severe case recorded is a fracture on the leg of a female student. She has been transferred to the Jamasi Government Hospital for further treatment. Three more students from the school were rushed to the Ejura Government Hospital for treatment, Tuesday morning. This brought the number of students admitted at the Hospital to forty-nine. Calm has returned to the school with academic activities ongoing. The National Disaster Management Organisation is already on the grounds to assess damage and possible relief.

  The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that Christian Atsu is currently receiving treatment after being rescued from the wreckage caused by an earthquake in Turkey. The 31-year-old winger was trapped in the rubble after a devastating earthquake on Monday. Atsu, together with Hatayspor’s sporting director, Taner Savut, were all trapped in the rubble. After hours of search, the former Chelsea and Newcastle United winger has been finally found alive but suffered foot injuries with difficulty breathing. A statement from the GFA said it has received an update that the footballer is currently receiving treatment at a hospital. The West African country’s football governing body also called on all Ghanaians to keep Atsu in their prayers. Robber shot dead in highway operation

  Police at Buipe in the Central Gonja District of the Savannah Region have gunned down an armed robber at Lingbenkura, a farming community near Buipe on the Fufulso-Buipe highway. The incident, according to the Buipe Police Command, occurred at about 1:10 am on Tuesday. Speaking to  Adom News , the Command said they received a distress call that the robbers, believed to be of Fulani extraction, had taken over part of the highway. Numbering about five, the police team rushed to the scene but while approaching, the robbers who sighted them, opened fire on them. The Police, while returning the fire, shot one of them while the others fled. Items found on the deceased robber were a gun and three mobile phones. The body has since been deposited at the Tamale Teaching Hospital mortuary for identification.
