Kojo Antwi has officially change his name change

  Legendary musician Kojo Antwi, also known as ‘Mr. Music Man,’ has revealed that plans are underway to change his name as part of re-branding. In an interview with Roselyn Felli on  Prime Morning  Wednesday, the legendary musician indicated that his name, “Kojo Antwi,” might be changed next year (2023) for reasons he prefers to keep close to his chest in the meantime. Having been in the music industry for decades, he believes there is more to be done to improve his music career, hence the need to re-brand and give more of himself for music lovers. “Next year we will be pursuing something else. There is a change of name coming,” he revealed. Though he might change the name, he said, “I can always go back and tap into it, but I still believe there’s a lot that I have that is not out there. So the book has other things that come to it. GOIL sends strong message to fraudsters

GOIL PLC   has cautioned fraudsters against the use of the company’s name to defraud unsuspecting persons.  This comes on the back of fake promotions purportedly being organised by GOIL, luring customers. Speaking to Class FM on the sidelines of the commissioning of a station at Ayigya in the Oforikrom Municipality on Wednesday, 21 December 2022, the Middle Belt Zonal Manager for GOIL, Thomas Domfeh, called on customers to always verify alleged promotions being organised by the company from reliable sources.  He said: “We believe that some of these things, they should desist from it. In GOIL, whenever we’re doing any promo, we let the media houses [be] aware of that.  “Apart from that, when you go to our website, all promotions are there, exquisitely displayed and there is evidence of what will tell you that the website that you have visited is also a GOIL website.” He urged customers to ignore unconfirmed promotions. Parliament approves reduction of E-levy rate

  Ghana’s Parliament has approved the reduction of the e-levy rate by 1 per cent. The House approved the amendment to the Electronic Transaction Levy ( E-levy ) Act on Wednesday, December 21, 2022. “We in the Minority had indicated strongly that we do not believe that the GH₵100 threshold must be removed because of a number of reasons. “They have listened and in presenting the e-levy bill clearly they have decided to remove what they had intended to exclude. Mr. Speaker, it is important for us to commend them for at a minimum they have listened,” Ranking Member on Finance Committee, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson said on the floor of the House. The  Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta  announced the proposal in the 2023 budget statement to reduce the e-levy rate from 1.5 per cent to 1 percent. Additional holiday for Ghanaians on Tuesday

The Minister of Interior, Ambrose Dery, has announced that Tuesday, December 27 will be observed as a public holiday. In a press release, the Minister explains that in view of the fact that Christmas Day falls on a Sunday, and Monday also a holiday, Boxing Day, Tuesday, December 27 will be observed as a public holiday. This directive comes from an Executive Instrument from  President   Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo  in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, Act 601. Over 700 security personnel deployed to Kasoa ahead of Christmas celebrations

The Ghana Police service has reportedly deployed over 70 security personnel to Kasoa and its surrounding communities, Kessben News has gathered. The deployment was informed primarily to ensure that there will be incident-free celebrations of the Christmas season. Kasoa and its environs have predominantly been in the news for negative reasons and the Police are all set to avert any menace this time. Densely populated places such as shopping malls, recreational and entertainment centres, the beaches and market centres will be the main flashpoints for the police. Police prevent protestors from accessing National Cathedral, Parliament

  Officers from the Ghana Police Service have prevented demonstrators from entering Parliament and the National Cathedral construction grounds. It is unclear why the police prevented the protestors from accessing the place. At about 10:00 am, the group started picketing at the forecourt of Parliament calling for the termination of the construction. The group comprising members of Justice for Ghana, Arise Ghana , and some traditional leaders later moved to the cathedral construction grounds but were met by armed policemen. After a short interaction between leaders of the group and the police, one of the leaders, Bernard Mornah , announced that “the police have decided not to allow us entry. This was not the agreement. We told them in our negotiations that we will be coming there and they agreed. Soldiers allegedly shoot nursing mother dead at Bawku

  A renewed ethnic clash at  Bawku   in the Upper East Region has claimed several lives including a 42-year-old lactating mother, Mariama Dauda. The deceased was allegedly shot on Wednesday morning inside her house at Sabongari. This brings to eight, the total number of persons killed since Sunday, 18th December 2022. The husband of the deceased, Yakubu Dauda, in an interview with  Adom News  said he heard gunshots and rushed to find out what had happened. He claimed he was, however, warned by the soldiers not to come out or else he would be shot dead too. Worship and Thanksgiving Service to be held at National Cathedral site

The Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral has outlined a four-day programme to be held at the project site which is yet to see an erection from the foundational works of the building. There is going to be three continuous days of Bible reading and a Worship and Thanksgiving service three days later which are all scheduled to be held at the site. Dubbed Bible Reading Marathon, the Bible readings are scheduled to be held from Wednesday, December 28 to Friday, December 30. The readings will start at 6:00am each day and end at 6:00pm. Ex-Ghana star Prince Tagoe remanded in custody for allegedly defrauding George Boateng of $40k

  Former Ghana international, Prince Tagoe, has been remanded into police custody until January 4, 2023, for allegedly defrauding Black Stars assistant coach, George Boateng, of $40,000 by an Accra Circuit Court on Wednesday, per a  report  by Accra-based radio station Starr FM. The former Hearts of Oak player pleaded not guilty to the charge of defrauding the former Netherlands midfielder by false pretence to the court presided over by His Honour Samuel bright Acquah. According to the case brief presented to the court by the prosecutor, George Boateng said he wanted to buy a 4×4 Lexus and Prince Tagoe offered to import the car for $40,000. George Boateng paid the said amount to Prince Tagoe on January 8, 2021, which he acknowledged receipt for in a telephone conversation. Tagoe promised to deliver the vehicle toward March ending, but he failed to fulfil the promise. He then called Boateng to plead for an additional two weeks to deliver the obligation but never did again. Boateng came

Caprice robbery: Pregnant woman, 4 others remanded

  Five persons, including a pregnant woman, have been remanded into Police custody by an Accra Circuit Court for their alleged involvement in the robbery of a Chinese national at Caprice in Accra on December 9, 2022.  They have been accused of robbing the Chinese woman of GH₵410,000, $8,000 and two iPhones. The accused persons are; Prince Anthony Chiobi, Izichuku Igwenagu, Emmanuella Chinwetalu, the lady who is pregnant, Martin Ahamafula Onwukwa, and Godfred Chukuebuka, aka, Caleb.  A sixth accused person, Yaw John Darko Ikenna is said to be at large.  The five accused persons have been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery.  The court presided over by Mrs Susana Eduful did not take their pleas pending further investigations.  They are expected to reappear on December 28, 2022. The prosecution, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Seth Frimpong, opposed a bail appeal, saying if accused persons were granted bail, they would hamper investigations.    ASP Frimpo

Armed robbers snatch taxi cab from driver at Ajumako

A 39-year-old taxi driver, Kojo Amonoo, was nearly shot dead at Ajumako after armed robbers snatched his taxi cab from him. According to the victim, a young girl about 14 years old, hired him to drive her to a building construction site surrounded by a bush. He narrated that upon reaching the destination, three men at the site immediately rushed, attacked him and snatched his taxi cab from him. He said the robbers tried to shoot him, but fortunately and miraculously the bullet failed to eject, which angered the robbers to beat him up mercilessly until he pretended to be dead before they left him and took his taxi with registration number GW-5692-20 away. He said he did not get any help while shouting for help at the scene of the attack so he crawled till he met somebody who took him to the Ajumako District Government Hospital.
